SGA takes Environmental Initiatives Seriously

Posted on: 18th May 2021

SGA takes environmental issues very seriously, and over course of the last few years has taken numerous steps to improve the company’s use of green technologies, thus reducing its carbon footprint.

In particular, as a high-energy usage company due to the furnaces used hermetic processing coupled with the various plating processes, SGA has taken steps to reduce the burden on the national grid by installing some 20kW of solar panels across the site, and installing inverter drives into various machinery to improve energy efficiency.

The company’s fleet of vehicles has also been upgraded, with 50 percent of the fleet fully electric, and another 30 percent hybrid. The aim is to convert the full fleet to 100% electric or hybrid over the course of the coming year.

Across the site, SGA continues to replace old lighting with energy efficient LEDs.

Another area of focus has been water usage – our sites need water due to the various production processes, but by installing re-circulation systems across our manufacturing sites, we hope to reduce our water consumption to a minimum.

SGA continues to regularly review all areas of our environmental policy, as part of our commitment to reducing waste wherever possible.
